Another pleasant day’s motor in which there were few stops for the pleasure boater. That at La Bassee has been earmarked for the year that we return to visit Calais and Ypres.
Exiting Canal D’Aire, Gratis turned into Canal de la Deule, a major waterway for the working barges.
Our eyes boggled in amazement at the sight of this barge mooring.
An afternoon bike ride took us to the VNF office where we purchased a dongle that enables one to easily access water and power at mooring managed by the VNF in the north of France. For 20 euro we gained 100kw of power, 12.05 euro was the cost of the dongle and 5 euro for water. In addition, a map of the north French waterways was provided.
