A bridge crossing away from the ancient township of Cergy is the Etang le Cergy. A combination of walking/cycling paths, it has practically everything for a relaxing weekend or holiday.
Picnic areas with BBQs, a massive lake, woods, climbing adventure, ski – ing: it was all there.
Watching the training dogs for water rescue was a highlight (sorry no pics. Too far away).
- Travelling via road, situated on the southern end of the Vexin National Park, Cergy is a mere 30km north west of Paris.
- It was here that the impressionists, Cezanne and Pissarro, resided to paint.
- During the 1960s, a new town named Cergy – Pontoise was born, an expansion upon the fifteen tiny villages that are now hidden there. The PDF below is quite an interesting read.
- Floods can be quite high.
