What a delightful day!

A last few buildings covered in frescoes detailed nursery rhymes, fairy tales, and fables.

Bob and I travelled through pasturelands

and mountainous countryside where the grey rubble of landslides was a regular occurrence

– an occasional cyclist wasn’t deterred.

The landscape became increasingly more rugged upon entering Austria for a short time. Crystal clear rivers of green white, lakes of various shades of blue, waterfalls cascading, and although a trickle when compared to the spring thaw, the rivers still ran along at a pace.

More gorgeous countryside:

At Lake Pflanzee we passed a yacht club and swim beach – quite a few were making the most of such beautiful weather, and loved these sheep set upon a wool shop’s verandah.

This ketch drew Bob’s attention on lake Seespitz.

At times it was possible to sight hang – gliders soaring from the high peaks above. It was quite a view. the skeleton like structures of ski lifts, dotted the landscape, silent for now, but a reminder of the winter season to come.

Haldensee was an exquisitepicturesque turquoise green and we delighted in this small building Berghutte Adlerhorst (Eagle’s Nest).

Some more picturesque pastureland, then back into Germany

Driving along Lake Konstance and the Bodensee the landsape was carpeted in fruit trees and vineyards: it was the fruit bowl.

Highlight of the day was the Pfahlbau Museum in Unteruhldingen.

3D experience via video with rotating 360 movies, in rooms that set the scene by taking us back in time prior

to our entrance to the replica village from 3000 years prior outside.

The archaeological findings on display here were the results from digs in and around the region: both beneath and above the lake. Knowledgeable guides, then allowed to wander through the huts, displays and village, museum.
