A Quick Exploration of Cape Town

Sunday afternoon saw us taking a few hours off of our departure preparations: with the intention of returning to South Africa for further exploration, we haven’t been too concerned about the lack of time spent exploring. The countryside itself reminds us of good old Oz in may ways: rugged and dry. For our Carnarvonite friends, you will be amazed […]

Cape Town Arrival

Some pics from our arrival in Cape Town. How different were the waters: ten hours before we were in six metre cross seas with short fetch.

Safe in Cape Town

After an interesting sail, we moored in the yacht club marina early last night. Just a few pics to whet the appetite.

Ushaka Marine World

Yesterday saw us catch a taxi to the Ushaka Marine World. Here one could meander along the promenade exploring the shops and partaking of a meal. A Wet and Wild theme park was perfect for those seeking relief from the humidity and heat or just looking for sheer excitement. No, we two didn’t venture in […]

Richards Bay Departure

Weather window not large enough: not departing tomorrow after all. We shall be moving round to Zululand Yacht Club to escape escape the effects of the tugs and the deafening noise that goes until 3am most Thursday to Sunday nights. Time for completing a few more jobs.

The sound of gentle pattering rain on the decks throughout the night. Imfolozi here we come!!! The rain brings with it hope of much more successful Big Five sightings as newly developed fresh water pools draw them out of the undergrowth.

Preparations for the move are coming along: food stowed, repairs made…… It’s now just wait for the weather window. Video editing has commenced. With some rain predicted, another visit to the parks is imminent: with water pooling in a region that is currently rain deprived, that’s when the animals appear. Our friends from Thor espied […]

Tidied the forward cabin and purchased the first of the food. Weather checks are now a daily job. Our new logo is well under way and is going to look fantastic. Tome is now revamping the blog itself. We are so excited.

Imfolozie pics are on at last.

Our trip to Imfolozi Game Reserve ( was magical. We had only just crossed the grid into the park, and there was our first elephant sighting: such a graceful animal for their size. Giraffes, baboons, rhinos, deer by the hundreds, zebras, hunting birds and more…. The work on the engine is now complete.  With a […]

Yes, more pics are on board!!! Keep scrolling down in order to view the new images and script. A bit of news on Daily Snippets.

The first of the pictures are now online…

Busy in Adelaide

What a full on week or two! The camera is back, my tilt – shift and 800mm lenses arrived: can’t wait to play….. Took Lucia to Kindergym yesterday and daycare today. What a sweetie. Our newest grandchild arrives today and go to visit a bit later. Bob and I went to the Adelaide Central Market this morning […]

We’ve arrived in South Africa

The Volcano and Cirque de Salaos

Reunion Snapshot

So much to see, so much to do, so little time……… Yesterday we completed following the N2 and N1 highway routes. Words can’t describe some of the sights we have seen: tropical rain forest, old lava flows upon which new life already flows, highlands reminding one of the European alps, rugged mountain tops and dry arid land […]

We have arrived in Reunion

Yes, we have arrived safely in Reunion. Unfortunately, the availability of internet is not so easy to find. Today saw us carrying out quite a search before we discovered the cheapest and easiest way of accessing it from the boat. Free wi – fi is available in some areas, but time consuming in travelling and utilising the facility. […]
