Cobar, NSW to Dalby Qld

12 hours driving interspersed with breaks and over 918km later, we arrived in Dalby. Beautiful country. Lots of trees, surprisingly green with a great deal of water still laying in the low areas, emus, cattle, a few goats, horses, and a couple of wedge – tailed eagles. Excitement for the day came when the lights […]

Update Update

So much has been taking place that it’s been a while since the last post. We purchased our new 4WD and love it. The Easter weekend is being spent at Balgowan, SA. A small coastal town, it really is a delightful place to visit. The last of the images for July 2016 have been completed […]

Villa Nagaputih Villa Nagaputih

We had a delightful stay in Villa Nagaputih, Ubud. Everything you could wish for in a relaxing retreat in the peaceful surrounds of the rainforest: the sound of a rushing river, bird calls and even an occasional sighting of blue kingfishers, monkeys or squirrels below. Check out the link for a more in depth look […]

We have almost completed uploading our 2016 French Journey. Return to Adelaide for a short while next week.

Rain Pelting Down!

Bob loves to go out for a motor on a daily basis, whilst I enjoy relaxing and working in the blog. My beloved just rang. He is currently taking shelter atop one of the mountain peaks. The weather went from warm and sunny to rain pelting down like cats and dogs: so heavy, he can’t […]

Work Commenced on the Photos Work Commenced on the Photos

Yesterday I commenced the slow process of editing the images from last year. Here is a sneak peak from our day in Cochem, Germany

Merry Christmas, 2016 Merry Christmas, 2016
Porcelain Factory, Meissen Porcelain Factory, Meissen

The Porzellanmuseum in Meissen was well worth the visit as we saw priceless pieces that had been painstakingly hand painted – yes, it’s the only place in the world where porcelain is hand painted. Prior to departing for the Spreewald, a trip to the Konditorei Zieger cafe to purchase the Fummel, a hollow type of bread created no […]

Meissen, Germany Meissen, Germany

Meissen, town where German porcelain was born. What a treasure is found here. Another place well worth visiting – for more than its porcelain factory (Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur): the architecture; the first residential palace in Germany with its innovations; the delicacy, the Fummel, the Dom with its organ recital, the atmosphere and more……….

Bautzen Bautzen

A 1,000+ year old town situated upon the old west – east trading route, that has seen war and peace numerous times over the centuries. Love it!!!!

Legnica (Liegnitz), Poland Legnica (Liegnitz), Poland

It was a day for relaxing. There is some beautiful architecture within the town. In its heyday what a beauty the township would have been. Just down from the main cemetery is this almost forgotten reminder from the past, which is now gradually being cleared.

Parsowice (Porschwitz) and Prochowice (Parchwitz), Poland Parsowice (Porschwitz) and Prochowice (Parchwitz), Poland

Yesterday Parsowice (image above), and today  Prochowice (Parchwitz) today: at last a sign of the Lutherans who once lived there.

Chwalecice (Heinersdorf) Chwalecice (Heinersdorf)

This trip is one that takes us in search of family history for my father’s side: not an easy task. Entering the graveyard, it was to find it overgrown and headstones few and far between. At the conclusion of WWII, the Germans had been forced to move out of Poland, Polish citizens moved in and the cemetery […]

On the Road Again

Off to Poland tomorrow – by car.

In Schengen, Luxembourg

After a 54km day of pleasant motoring and six locks, we arrived in the Luxembourg town of Schengen.

Pont a Mousson to Metz, France Pont a Mousson to Metz, France

Another easy motor found us in Metz. Highlights, St Etienne’s Cathedral, 12th/13th century Templar’s Chapel and the Gare. The Templar’s chapel (also top image)
